You, Our Global Neighbors And Our Planet

You have probably noticed the FSC logo printed or engraved on our home  furnishings and listed in our product descriptions for our home furnishing pieces. You may be wondering what it means to you, our global neighbors and our planet.

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) logo on a forest product is your assurance that it is made with, or contains, forest-based materials from FSC-certified forests or reclaimed sources. There are three types of FSC label: 100%, FSC Mix or FSC Recycled.

FSC certification ensures that products come from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social and economic benefits.

The FSC label is found on wood and paper products as well as non-timber forest products such as latex. You can find the FSC logo on floors, decking, paper, printed matter, charcoal, kitchen utensils, venison and many more products!

The FSC system allows businesses and consumers to identify, purchase and use wood, paper and other forest products made with materials from well-managed forests and/or recycled sources.

The FSC P&C requires FSC-certified businesses to uphold principles of free prior and informed consent (FPIC), that a community has the right to give or withhold its consent to proposals that may affect the lands it customarily owns, occupies or otherwise uses. This position is also supported by the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People, and the International Labour Organization’s Convention 169.
